A large pair of pottery Medici lions produced by Lancaster & Sons Ltd, Hanley, each bearing the factory mark to their underside.
 
While they are somewhat disproportionate when compared to the original Roman sculptures - upon which they’re based - they have a distinct bold charm giving them real presence as mantel ornaments.
 
No chips or cracks, one glass eye absent (perhaps he’s winking!).
