looking back . . .
My mother grew up on the family dairy farm, 'Pinebank', situated in the heart of Ulster in the townland of Tullygally, County Armagh.
It was there that my grandfather began dealing in antiques on-the-side until their land was vested for the construction of the new city of Craigavon. Three generations had to up stakes and move into town...
For my grandfather it saw him setting up shop on Lurgan High Street where he soon became recognised as one of Ireland's leading dealers in fine furniture, clocks and Belleek porcelain - having assisted Richard K. Degenhardt with his authoritative publication 'Belleek The Complete Collector's Guide and Illustrated Reference'.
My uncle has continued this legacy and years later my mother would begin trading in giftware and floristry which eventually developed into 'Vintage & Value' - a staple of our town where I cut my teeth in house clearances and haggling.
Following in these generational footsteps D. Patterson Antiques
(established 2015) brings you a curated collection of pieces that harmonise in light of their sculptural form, patina and presence. Here you'll find the rustic and vernacular alongside Georgian finery - and anything else that catches my eye!
Antiques should be celebrated, learned from and very much have a place in today's ever-changing world. My transparent, old school, approach is this, "there's beauty in the scars we bear". It could be a well-worn stretcher on a chair, a tarnished bit of silver or a dusty old painting – history comes to life when we take time to look and listen to each piece.

"From chipboard to Chippendale, you never know what you'll see next."
That's the thrill of the antiques trade, you never know what will next cross your path!
Back in 2015 a chance purchase ignited a passion for all things vernacular - especially Irish country furniture. Since then I've helped curate the collections of the Armagh County and Ulster Museum along with contributions to Kinmonth's definitive book 'Irish Country Furniture and Furnishings 1700-2000'.
My landmark research on the Ulster Pottery Co. Coalisland was completed in 2023 which, for the first time, charted the history of the illusive company.
I've had the pleasure of appearing on BBC's 'Antiques Roadshow' and 'Antiques Road Trip' along with supplying items to Quest's 'Salvage Hunters: The Restorers'.
I trust you'll enjoy your time spent browsing my collection and I look forward to hearing from you.
David Patterson.
