A pair of silver plated knife rests in the form of monkeys playing tug of war.
 
These so perfectly encapsulate the Victorian love of nature and novelty in what would have been a real point of conversation during a dinner party!
 
The crisply cast and animated monkeys were manufactured by Thomas Bradbury & Sons, Sheffield bearing their mark to the underside along with a date letter – in this case ‘M’ – which was specific to the firm and places these around 1888.
 
Rubbing to the plate in places commensurate with age.
