An arts and crafts copper box, lined in mahogany, with an elaborate enamel lid.
 
It depicts a deer running through a flowing landscape with hazel tree, or similar, set against a stark night sky with clouds picked out in gold.
 
It bears the monogram of ‘CJ’ with ‘Handwerk’ struck beneath. This mark has been attributed to the Dutch metalworker Joseph Bernard Citroen who was known for producing various enamelled wares.
 
The lid would have originally been hinged however is now detached.
