A mahogany artists case, or field box, in original used condition by Winsor & Newton.
 
The dovetailed case contains the original mahogany palette and a fully fitted interior beneath retaining paints (many by Winsor & Newton), charcoal, brushes, brush pots and canisters.
 
The whole, bearing all of the marks of years of service, has taken on its own unique presence. It’s an extension of the artist that once used it and inadvertently has become a piece of art itself.
 
All of the interior and exterior catches function as intended. The leather handle is weak and unsuitable for carrying.
