A humble oak side table of pleasing proportions.
Of pegged construction, it emulates the fine walnut tables of the period with its shapely apron, re-entrant corners and straight turned tapering legs terminating in pad feet – all of which the carpenter has skilfully executed producing a piece which stands with unassuming grace.
The surface is dry throughout with the exterior having achieved a wonderful nutty colour.
The chased brass backplates and pulls are original with the pommels having been historically replaced – evidence of early snape fixtures are apparent to the inside of the drawer front.
Historic flight-holes throughout, the base of the drawer has been sympathetically replaced. The drawer is snug when when pulling from and placing fully into the carcass, otherwise it functions as intended.
